Carnival in the UK is too readily associated with civil disorder and chaos. This production of Carivog International will challenge this head on by creating a performance platform to highlight how the Masquerade, Music and Movement of Carnival Arts are expressed through performance and creativity.

Miss Universal Carnival Queen UK is a production of Carivog International, the organisers of Miss Trinidad and Tobago UK. The seventeen contestants representing countries where Carnival is celebrated will compete for the coveted title of The Miss Universal Carnival Queen UK. They will be judged in three main categories – The Carnival Costume, The Carnival inspired Evening Gown and Scavenge Couture. Within each category the artistic contribution by the contestant as model, the designer, constructionist and hair and make-up artists will be assessed. In staging this inaugural event, Carivog International will strive to:

  • Provide an international performance platform to celebrate all aspects of Carnival Arts
  • Provide Carnival costume builders an avenue to showcase their individual queen costume on stage in a more formal setting
  • Provide a showcasing platform for other creative artistes – models, designers of fashion and accessories,  makeup and hair artistes and members of the performing arts
  • Showcase the Diasporic Carnivals of each contestant
  • Be a catalyst for creating awareness of a career in the arts

Sheanna Alleyne, The Producer of the Show, stated: “Today, carnival has fostered the concept of one global village and as people of the world meandered from their homelands to all parts of the globe creating world cities, we will celebrate this diversity through the festival of carnival.
