Miss JAUK’s Charelle pays tribute to Mandela

Miss Jamaica UK’a Charelle Rose-Patterson was amongst thousands who’ve paid tribute to South Africa’s Nelson Mandela.  Charelle joined dignitaries, politicians and the PM David Cameron as she left a bouquet of flowers at the Nelson Mandela statue in Parliament Square, London.

Cherelle Rose Patterson who was recently crowned Miss Jamaica UK was also amongst the many visitors to pay tribute to South Africa’s greatest son.

Speaking to Flyer Cherelle said: “I’ve always regarded Nelson Mandela as a father figure; he was an inspirational leader who stoof for justice and peace. Nelson Mandella  is and icon of our time.”

June Daley the CEO of Miss Jamaica UK said: “Nelson Mandela touched the hearts of millions of people worldwide. I can remember as a child living in Jamaica during the apartheid era and how many of us participated in the boycott of South African products.”

As news of Nelson Mandela’s passing updates have emerged as to how the  audience of The Long Walk to Freedom which was being premiered was shared. (Naomie Harris plays Winnie Mandela in the film The Long Walk to Freedom).

One source said: “There was an announcement at the end of the film and we were all shocked. We had to wait for quite a time before we could leave the venue,” said a publicist.
