Following on from the success of the programme over the last two years, Jamaica National will be hosting the JN Caribbean Cultural Awareness Summer Camp once again this year. It will be held during the school holidays from 29th July through to 11th August 2013 and will run for 12 days at Walworth Academy ( Off the Old Kent Road).

This Summer Camp 2013 will offer  the opportunity for young people (9 – 17 years) experience Caribbean history and culture which will be taught through dance, drama, music and spoken word by experienced teachers in the field from Jamaica.

Participants will develop their understanding and appreciation of links and impact of the Caribbean culture here in the UK and how this relates to them as individuals therefore boosting their morale, self- worth and self- determination.

At the end of the programme the participants will receive certificates and demonstrate their collective learning by entertaining their audience with a final production on the evenings of the last two days, Friday August 9th and Saturday August 10th.  This year there will be an additional performance in Birmingham on Sunday August 11th to provide the participants the further exposure to build their confidence level.
