Constance Briscoe to serve 16 months in jail

One of Britain’s leading black barristers Constance Briscoe has been sentenced to 16 months in jail for perverting the course of justice at the old Bailey in central London.

Arriving at 9.45 Briscoe barely looked towards the media as she exited a black taxi wearing a floral scarf and pinstriped coat and black dress.

The trial involved the passing of a speeding points between the former energy secretary Chris Huhne and his then-wife Vicky Pryce.

Briscoe was suspended since her arrest in 2012 refuted these claims however a jury dismissed her claims.

Briscoe who is of Jamaican origin became famous for her books Ugly and Beyond Ugly which dealt with identity issues and self-esteem.

Briscoe reportedly underwent surgery as a result however the book caused a family division.
