Wimbledon is in full swing but before all the action on court came all the action off court. The WTA Official Pre-Wimbledon Party was held at the Kensington Rooftop Gardens in London.

So who did really step up to the mark on the fashion stakes this year? For this post Flyer’s fashion Editor and debonair shoe designer Dionne Gooding cast her eye on a few off court creations.

This lady clearly loves tennis. She stood out from the crowd in her luminous tennis ball dress and matching hat.

Fashionista and vocalist from the Noisettes, Shingai Shoniwa looked hot as usual in her heavily embellished transparent dress. I’m loving the feathers which are a key look this season.

The lady in red Maria Sharapova looked amazing. I especially love her cute clutch and bold gold jewelry.

Alexis Jordan went for the Grecian look. She looked very cute in her electric blue asymmetrical style dress.

Other guests included the fantastic French Open winner Na-Li who will be going for gold at Wimbledon.

Former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt turned heads on the purple carpet.

And so did Vocalist Eliza Doolittle.

Girl group Parade ticked all the right boxes also.

Defending Wimbledon champion Serena Williams kept the paparazzi waiting for two hours in torrential rain but it was worth the wait. Overcoming a life-threatening clot the fact that Serena is taking part is a reflection of her tenacity.

The scars from her injury were plain to see.

Siblings Natt and Leah Weller were spotted heading to Mahike’s Coconut Rum launch in Oxford Street, London.

Socialite Tara Palmer – Tomkinson was spotted leaving Mahiki’s Coconut pop-up launch event at Selfridges, London.

Dianna Ross, (Supremes) has been spotted at Wimbledon this week. Pop Royalty Beyonce and  Jay-Z are also widely expected to attend Wimbledon following Glastonbury. Beyonce is also expected to appear on the Graham Norton show although this has not yet been confirmed.

London will also soon be graced with Minaj Mania. The diminutive American/Trinidadian is scheduled to revisit the UK later this summer.

A Flashmob dressed in Lycra wowed shoppers when they arrived unannounced at the Westfiled super store in London. Leading the flashmob was ex Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt and campaign organiser Kaya Cheyanne.

“Keeping It Real, Natural Beauty targets people of all ages, but especially young people who are more likely to be affected by media influence. We are aiming to promote positive body image as apposed to the distorted pictures we see everyday around us.

“We would like to see industries display our logo when an  image is natural and not airbrushed, not only to show support, but also  as a sign that we are moving in a positive healthier direction,” commented Kaya Cheyanne.

Kimberley Wyatt said:  “I’m supporting T4’s Battlefront Natural Beauty Campaign because shedding the pressures and opinions formed by others and choosing to be comfortable in your own skin is something I’m passionate about.  I hope to inspire others to do the same.”

Ever since the late 1950’s commercial airbrushing and retouching was considered a natural art-form earning commercial artists considerable salaries. Specifically designed for retouching photographs using fine particles of acrylic paint regulated through air compressors, their use in commercial art and advertising was widespread.

Today, you are unlikely to see a flyer without the heavy use of digital retouching. The flyer printing industry generates millions to the UK treasury alone.

Within hours of this campaign launch, some media experts had already talked down the campaigns chances of success.

Charles Nunoo who runs one of Europe’s largest multi ethnic modelling agencies said: “I can’t see this campaign working; there is just too much money involved. You have to understand that advertisers drive this market. They are basically selling a perfect lifestyle and image to match. Many models have scars and imperfections and had it not been for airbrushing they would not find work.

There is also a fine-line between applying makeup and airbrushing, in principal it would be great for people to accept natural beauty but commercially it is impractical and this campaign is unlikely to influence the fashion and beauty trade to change.”

The High Schools Street Dance Championships has teemed up with Beat Bullying empowering thousands of young people across England with the confidence to combat bullying at school, in their community and online.

The first of its kind in the country, the collaboration hopes to resonate heavily with young people throughout England. Street dance is the most popular form of Dance in the UK and this innovative partnership will not only promote self-confidence and healthy lifestyle, but will also provide a unique platform for young people to stand up against bullying.

The inter-high school competition will support Beat Bullying by providing various resources including information packs and wristbands at all regional finals, as well as attending the launch alongside Kimberley Wyatt, Chipmunk, George Sampson, Ashley Banjo and Sisco Gomez.

Kimberley said: “I’m supporting UDO because the spark in popularity of dance in the younger generations has been incredible! Dance is such a great way to give kids a sense of accomplishment and self worth. I hope my involvement inspires them to dream big, believe in themselves, and go for it.”
