UK Singer/Songwriter and Producer Labrinth hosted a private pre-Brit party at Mosiaca Restaurant in North London. The party celebrating past present and future UK talent was held in association with luxury Swiss watchmaker brand Raymond Weil.

In fitting with the BRIT theme, dinning arrangements curated by head chef, Steve Goode included a very traditional British menu and bespoke cocktails. Live performances from Labrinth, Kyra, Bluey Robinson and Etta Bond further enhanced the ambiance of the occasion.

The guest list included singing sensations, Cover Drive, Alexandra Burke, Misha B, Tinnie Tempah, Etta Bond, Chipmunk, Emli Sande, Plan B, Rizzle Kicks, Little Mix, Mz Bratt, Parade, Tali Lennox, Mr Hudson, Gary Numan and Devlin.

The dinner marks our fifth year of supporting The Brit Awards and also the fifth special edition watch that we have created as part of our status as Official Watch and Timing partner of the Awards.”

Touring talent Cover Drive were well received at this showbiz party. Music producer Mr. Hudson was so impressed he even hitched a taxi back to central London with the Bajan sensations.

Little Mix have been keeping a low profile as of late which has not gone down well with their fans or some sections of the press. Their press agent reportedly pleaded with a photographers not to take their pictures when they exited the venue.

 Misha B’s in the house.  In contrast to Little Mix, the not so shy Misha B was all smiles when she arrived at the Mosaica Restaurant in London. Judging by the media frenzy you could easily have thought that it was Misha who had won X Factor.

Speaking to Flyer News Misha B said: “I have some really exciting news to share with my friends but they are going to have to wait a little while longer before I tell them.”

Alexandra Burke rocked in this spiked turquoise dress as she chatted to her friends on the red carpet.

Rihanna’s lead man, Boxer/model Dudley O’Shaugnessy also walked the red-carpet in London.

Chipmunk who reportedly was offered 500,00 to appear in celebrity Big Brother was on familiar ground in this corner of North London.

By 2.am the party was effectively over however for one person the night had barely begun.

Award season is now coming to an end and as so too is London Fashion week. The following posts are an overview of events around town.

The Save The Children TV campaign in nearly over and at the press conference Alexandra Burke proved a  natural with children. Whilst  other celebs struggled to keep things  under control Alexandra took control of the situation.

BAFTA awards are over for another year, Samuel L Jackson, Tandie Newton, Helena Bonham – Carter and Sarah Harding were amongst guest at this years event. This seasons colours appeared  to be red or white.

Katie price launched Day 22 fashion label. She said: “I was rejected by many household names in the world of fashion so I decided to launch my own label. Day 22 was named after by Birthday, I was born on the 22nd of May.”

Katie’s new label is doing well although fashion editors weren’t exactly over whelmed with this collection.

Corinne Baley Rae was out celebrating three times last week, BAFTA awards, BRIT awards and Elle Style awards and still managed to look effortlessly classy.

DIVA model Tolula Adeyemi revealed a little more than most at the Elle Style awards.

We’re really not sure what Shingai Shoniwa, front lady of Noisettes was wearing on her head. The blonde weave was a new look for her but the stuffed bird, London pigeons better watch out.

Solo artist and TV personality Alesha Dixon joins in celebrations at Royson’s Masquerade party at ORA restaurant.

The BRIT awards were celebrating their 31^st anniversary with a move to a new venue and a new PR company to boot. They promised to make the awards ceremony bigger and better for all involved. The move however did not go smoothly and has already received a fare amount of criticism.

Fans who camped outside of the 02 arena overnight to catch a glimpse of their idols on the red carpet were informed at the eleventh hour, there was to be no public access this year. “We’ve come all the way from Lancashire to see Rihanna,” protested a fan. “It’s so unfair we should be reimbursed.”

To make matters worse it would appear although it is not yet confirmed that there was little to no photo accreditation available to publications representing diverse media despite many of the headline acts being of African or Caribbean parentage.

FLYER spoke to a  radio reporter who said: “It’s very unusual for media to be restricted in this way, especially given the ethnic make-up of this year’s award ceremony. I know the PR Company involved and I’m very surprised, I’m actually quite shocked.”

Toyin, a regular contributor to Flyer News said: “In a way it was good that there weren’t any urban publications present, we need our music to reach a bigger audience.”

Neil a press photographer disagreed: “When I arrived on the red carpet at the BRIT’s, the atmosphere was sterile and there were no fans to greet the celebs. It was just so clinical. Furthermore it would appear that Rihanna must have been given the heads-up on the situation as she basically snubbed all the press photographers on her arrival.”

Mark Weir from Flyer said: “Regardless of the situation press should always be reflective of the demography they represent. Celebrities have a very strong relationship with photographers especially ones that have been instrumental in their career development. Publications reflecting diverse audiences will have a slightly different agenda from the national press.

You can virtually guarantee that the media coverage will not include people of colour on the front cover of newspapers when you have a secular press.

Our photographers for example are not only briefed to catch the moment but we also focus on specifics such as hair (natural or weave), Nails, tattoos, brands, etc. We aim to fulfil the demands of our international readership…”

“Some elements of British press continue to underestimate the purchasing powers of emerging economies and how successful brands build on their global audience not just their local ones.

I’m fully supportive of Rihanna for making a stance if this is actually the case and we can expect more of the same until British PR companies begin to embrace diversity.”

Not even the torrential rain and sub-zero temperatures could dampen the spirits of one of the UK’s most prestigious nights on the music calendar. Carrying the flag for England was Lilly Allen. But if there was an award for over-hyped- red carpet arrivals then Lady Gaga’s would have added another award to her tally of three.

Allen who has reportedly threatened to give up music for acting was pitched against her flamboyant US counterpart, public exhibitionist Lady Gaga (Stefani Germanotta). Bookies favourite Gaga brushed the Brits aside by winning three gongs.

On the fashion front the US chart topper Alecia Keys stole the headlines but poor Alexandra Burke can’t seem to hit the right note with her red-ball gown.

Credited with bring grime music to the mainstream Dizzee Rascal took home the award for best British male solo artist. “It’s about –time.” said the much deserved artist in accepting his award.

Croydon boys JLS also proved that perseverance can lead to success. They scooped a bevy of awards including: British Break-through act and British Single.

N-Dubz however will have to wait another year but that didn’t stop them from partying hard. Tulissa looked a little worse for wear at a pre-party event and later admitted she hadn’t realised her leggings were see-through.

Celebrating its 30th birthday – The BRIT Awards 2010 with MasterCard will showcase the sheer depth and diversity of British and International music talent from the past year’s big releases. The big night out in the British music calendar will take place at London’s Earls Court Arena on Tuesday 16 February and screened live to millions on ITV1.

Featured in the nominations list is an eclectic and impressive range of artists who have enjoyed success both in the UK and around the world in 2009. Their achievements have been recognised by the 1000 strong BRITs Academy. The nominations in twelve categories were announced at a media packed launch party, hosted by Radio 1’s Fearne Cotton, at London’s indigO2.

Leading the way with three BRIT nominations each are a quartet of pops finest ladies, UK’s Florence & The Machine, Lily Allen, Pixie Lott and that all American phenomenon Lady Gaga. They will be going head to head in a battle of the females. Having been crowned the most successful selling artist of 2009, with her single ‘Poker Face,’ Lady Gaga makes her BRIT Awards nominations debut with a well-deserved three nominations. Short listed for International Female Solo Artist, International Breakthrough Act and International Album for ‘The Fame’, Lady Gaga will look to be one of the most coveted International acts at The BRITs for many years.

Coming out on top with her critically acclaimed second album ‘It’s Not Me, It’s You’ Lily Allen takes three nominations, going up against Florence & The Machine for British Female Solo Artist, MasterCard British Album and British Single of the Year for ‘The Fear’. UK newcomer Pixie Lott has stormed the charts with her debut single ‘Mama Do’ which goes up against La Roux, JLS, Lily Allen and Cheryl Cole amongst others for British Single of the Year. Pixie is also nominated for British Female Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.

The Anglo American battle will be heavily fought between Dizzee Rascal and American heavy-weight Jay-Z who received double nominations. Dizzee Rascal, heralded as bringing Grime back to the forefront of UK music – paving the way for artists such as N-Dubz and Tinchy Stryder, goes for a win in the categories for British Male Solo Artist and MasterCard British Album. Standing in Dizzee’s way in the British Male Solo Artist category are Calvin Harris, Mika, Robbie Williams and Scotland’s finest, Paolo Nutini who is a two-time nominee. Paolo is also nominated for his superb ‘Sunny Side Up’ album in the MasterCard British Album category.

To celebrate The BRIT Awards 30th anniversayr, The BRITs 2010 will see two retrospective categories introduced to pay homage to the biggest selling album successes and most memorable live performances of the past 30 years.

The ‘BRITs Memorable Performance of 30 Years’ Award will see a shortlist of stunning live performances from BRITs history showcased on a special ‘BRITs Hits 30’ television special broadcast by ITV1 on Saturday 23 January hosted by Mel B. Once aired, viewers will be able to vote online through the itv.com/brits and gm.tv websites with the winner being announced at the main show on 16 February at Earls Court.
