Bob Marley tribute dress launched in London
The brief was to design a commemorative dress to celebrate the life of Jamaican icon and musical legend Bob Marley. Rising to the challenge was fashion designer Mark Samuels director of fashion label Petroucci, the design is featured below.
Speaking to Flyer Newspaper Mark Samuels said: “Bob Marley is an idol and inspiration who left a lasting legacy. I’ve created this original one-size ready to wear dress made from polyester and elastane. The African print is printed on cotton. The dress is durable and easy to wear.
With an incredibly fine deadline the chosen design by Mark Samuels will be auctioned with a percentage of the proceeds going to charity.
Following the photocall in North London Mark Samuels said today: “The dress was designed to coincide with Bob Marley’s Birthday and reflect the legacy, impact and creative contribution he has made modern culture. I didn’t feel that much under pressure despite the tight deadline.”
Samuels continued: “Lisa White who modelled the dress looked stunning. I was overwhelmed with the final results it was an added extra that Lisa is also a Rastafarian. The design is based on Africa and the materials were chosen to celebrate African culture.”
Lisa White who modeled the dress said: “I feel very privileged to have been selected to model this ready to wear dress designed by fashion label Petroucci. I had a wonderful shoot, great fun great people – I’m still buzzing now.”
Mark Samuels said: “Bob Marley has universal appeal and this dress can literally be worn by anyone.” The Bob Marley tribute dress is currently on display at 485A seven sisters, London.
