Making History – Team Nigeria join racings elite

History was in the making at Brands Hatch yesterday when Team Nigeria unveiled their new Racing Eagle Audi R8 LMS.

This exclusive launch attended by a shortlist of media organisations marked a momentous moment for Nigeria and Nigerians worldwide.

Team Nigeria (Racing Eagle) will be competing in FIA GT3 series, a Grand Touring Series with super sportscars fro top-end manufacturers such as Audi, McLaren, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes-Benz, Aston Martin, Ford GT, Porche and BMW.

Team Nigeria joins an elite list that use motorsport to showcase and promote the positivity of their nations on the world’s stage. Unveiled to the World for the first time is Team Nigeria’s Racing Eagle Audi R8 LMS. The car will be driven by Nigerian Drivers.

From 2012 Team Nigeria will be flying the Nigerian flag in FIA GT prestigious events across the World including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, United Kingdom, USA, China, Macau, Malaysia, Australia, Germany, Brazil and the ultimate Lagos Nigeria.

Team Nigeria is partnering with Adidas as official Team Wear and Merchandise Partner. With a global audience of over 200 million worldwide Nigeria Racing Eagle’s are about to soar.

Speaking at the launch Ribi Adeshokan (above), Team Principal/Owner said: “This is a momentous moment for Nigeria that started off as a dream which has now become a reality. We’ve been developing Team Nigeria for over five years; the real journey has really just begun.”

Lead driver Sam Collins who’s of Nigerian parentage said: “I was fairly successful at athletics before switching to motorsport. I’m a perfectionist and this sport is extremely technical.”

Second driver Ovie Iroro is Nigeria’s youngest ever professional racing driver. Speaking to Flyer News Iroro said: “I hope to progress in the footsteps of motor racer Sergio Perez. He is a good role model and ambassador for the sport.”

Other guests at this launch included the talented Reggae artist Fresh P. ‘Summer Loving’ single release by Fresh P looks set to become a summer anthem and is currently available for digital download on iTune.
