JA’s Ash cloud crisis passengers arrive in UK
The last of Jamaica’s stranded passengers touched down at London Gatwick Airport this morning following Iceland’s volcano which has caused global financial turbulence.
The two flights, one from Kingston the other from Montego Bay were full to capacity when they landed at 09.05am and 09.39am (GMT) London Gatwick Airport, it is estimated that 10% of those present had been forced to overstay their visit.
One passenger said to FLYER: “My personal cost is unquantifiable. My wife is self-employed and runs a small hair-salon in the UK. I’ve had to send extra money to cover for her extended stay; meanwhile the business has suffered because she is not there. The financial outlay is over £5,000.”
